The Wabaunsee County Signal-Enterprise, Thursday, November 21, 2002
There's always a lot to be
thankful for if you take time to
look for it. For example, I'm
sitting here thinking how nice
it is that wrinkles don't hurt.
Dean Swenson attended
services for Junior Bozarth in
Eskridge last Saturday and
then went on to Emporia. He
*dined out" with Virginia Shaw
and her neighbor, Wilma Core.
Last Sunday Dean was back in
Chalk and ready to visit with
Steve Clark and exchange
goodies.
John Rowley, Brad Foster,
Jacob and Dustin picked up a
load of wood the 9th and took
time to visit.
Giles Schrader watched the
Mill Creek Junior High Girls
basketball game Tuesday.
Later he attended the Wa-
baunsee High School National
Honor Society Induction
Ceremony.
Carl and I visited Marge
Hobbs Tuesflay afternoon at
the Health Care Center in
Council Grove. We missed
seeing George as they were
moving him from the Hospital
back to the Center. Earlier we
enjoyed a visit with Brent Si-
morris.
A surprise combination
birthday and retirement party
for Lauren Ashburn was
hosted by his daughters Sat-
urday evening. Over 70 people
gathered at Kevin and Shiela
Hill's to wish him well. His
mother, Doris Ashburn, Kitty
and John Borg were among
those attending.
Wednesday evening Giles
Schrader attended a Farm Bu-
reau Board Meeting in Alma.
Thursday he watched the Mill
Creek Junior High Girl's Bas-
ketball game.
Dean Swenson, Virginia
Shaw and Barbara Kaniper,
Gary and Nancy Rowley and
Darren, Carl and I had our
pictures taken Friday in Alta
Vista for the Church Directory.
Gary and Nancy attended
an event at Baker University
Saturday and enjoyed a brief
visit with Darci. Darren
stayed in Eskridge with
Christy.
Giles Schrader, Andrew,
Matt and Elyse enjoyed lunch
together Sunday at TD's in
Alma
=Bart and Friends~ lived up
to all expectations Saturday
evening at Emmanuel and
*played" to a comfortably full
Church. The group consisted
of Bart Finney, Bob Dale,
David, Duane and Sally An-
dres with Pat Andres at the
piano. Becky was =plumb on
line" as she explained a plumb
line during Children's Mo-
ments and told how God uses
measurements. An added at-
traction to the evening was the
birthday celebration for Kay
Andres, Hiawatha. She talked
brother John and his wife
Caroline and family into
bringing a lovely cake so she
could celebrate her 40th with
home folk. Bill Unruh, Carl
and I were there from Chalk.
Next Saturday will be a special
service as five area churches
combine for a Thanksgiving
Service.
Jenny Schultz and Kristi
Anspaugh from Baker Univer-
sity presented Children's Min-
istry and told about Baker at
Simpson and Emmanuel Sun-
day morning, Later they ate
lunch at Emmanuel with Pas-
tor Shirley Edgerton, Linda
McDiffett, Marylin and Dwight
Andres, Gary and Nancy Row-
ley and Darren, Christy Craver
and Kyle, Carl and Barbara
Rowley. The Rowley's had the
Andres's outnumbered'as the
Bob Andres family was cele-
brating Thanksgiving at the
home of Dale and Debbie.

from the Knights. Ruby In-
