Superintendent Randy Rivers introduced members of the school board and construction management team. A large group of horseshoe throwers have gathered for a number of years to compete in the annual 4'h of July Celebration. Activities in that city are sponsored by the McFarland Activity Group. These events will be held on the stage under the arena at the fair grounds. The Eighth Annual Pedal Pull Contest will be held at 8:00 p.m. as youngsters match the@ str e/t~ on the pedal tractors. This event is sponsored by Stockgrowers State Bank - Pax/co, Maple Hill, ~nd Alma, and the Wabaunsee County Farm Bureau. On Tuesday mornin~ July 30th, the beef show will be held at 9:00 as well as the photography judg/ng. At 12 noon rabbits and hand pets will be judged, followed by the bucket calf show at 2:00 p.m. and the swine show at 6:00 p.m. A rocket launch will be held that same evening at 7:00 p.m. allowing those enrolled in rocketry an opportun/ty to share the@ projects. Wednesday mornin~ July 31.t, the sheep show will begin at 9:00 a.m. and will be followe~l by the da/ry cattle and goat show. Shepherd's Lead begins at 12 noon, as does the poultry judging. The Round Robin Showmanship contest will be featured at 1:30 p.m. with the champion showman from beef, horse, sheep and swine vying for top overall showmanship honors. From 2:30 to 4:00 p.m. Barnyard Olympics will be held: This event provides a number of activities as 4-Hers match speed, agility, and strength. Many of these events provide as much enterta/xunent for the participants as it does the spectators. The fair will begin to wind down Wednesday evening, but not until after the Cattlemen's Supper, beginning at 5:00 p.m., the awards ceremony beginning at 7:00, and the big Livestock sale, beginning at 7:30, are held.
