Hundreds of area residents enjoyed the relaxed mood as they gathered at McKnight Field for the Alma Chamber of Commerce 4rh of July Celebration. Nearly 40 gallons of homemade ice cream and desserts were served to those attending the 12'n annual event. As the last spoonful of ice cream was being enjoyed participants of all ages provided entertainment by playing softball. When darkness fell on Mill Creek Valley a fireworks display lit up the sky and brought Independence Day 2002 to a close. They also finished off 'th a fireworks display. ~#¢~4¢4¢~#¢#¢~4¢4~~~~ WABAUNSEE COUNTY 4-H FAIR LESS THAN THREE WEEKS AWAY! The 2002 Edition of the Wabaunsee County 4-H Fair is falst approaching. Plan now to attend any or all of the three day event which promises to intrigue, entertain, and impress everyone as they witness the achievements accomplished by the youth of Wabaunsee County. A/though the official three-day event is scheduled for Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, July 29th, 30th, and 31~t, some activities begin prior to those three days. On Saturday, July 20~h, the fashion revue, 4-H clothing and textiles and Make It With Wool competition will be held at Mission Valley High School. This event will begin at 8:30 a.m. King and Queen candidates will also be judged that day. Later that afternoon, beginning at 3:00 p.m., the dog show will be held at the fair grounds in ALma.
