Matthew 10:5b-7 - "Go
nowhere among the Gentiles
and enter no town of the
Samaritans, but go rather to
the lost sheep of the house of
Israel. As you go. proclaim the
good news."
We all are disciples of that
which we believe or accept as
the truth. With the founding of
the church at Antioch. those
of us whom accept Jesus as
teacher and Savior have be-
come known as "Christians".
Though the world would use
this term for followers of
Christ. I prefer "disciples".
Discipleship means that we
have learned something: it
carries with it the obligation
to share, to use our knowledge.
A school teacher counts in
school teaching that two plus
two equals four so that we
may be able to balance our
checkbook, count change, or
build a house. In like manner,
Jesus calls us to teach other
disciples to carry on the work
of the church - bringing people
to Christ.
We do have to go far to do
this task, to fulfill our calling.
It is not necessary to travel to
Topeka or Kansas City.
Rather, start right where you
are with neighbor, friend, co-
workers, and family. These
are the people who know you,
the ones who trust your exam-
ple, the ones who trust because
they see the difference Christ
has made in your life.
Why not start today by
Inviting those whom you
know to church this Sunday?
Let Jesus enter their hearts
just as he entered ours.
